Correspondence, 1879.

Correspondence is a 32 p. typed transcription of Bloedon's original letter in which he described his trip from Saginaw (Mich.), up the Missouri River to the Sioux Rosebud Indian Reservation Agency (S.D.). He left Saginaw on April 18 and arrived at the Agency on May 4, 1879. While there, the Agency Indians were visited by Pres. Hayes, ran the Dog Ear relay, suffered from extreme heat, 105-115 degrees, and danced the Sun Dance and Omaha Dance. Bloedon described the Indians, their horses, beef distribution, their care of each other, and their religious views in a very positive manner. A photocopy of Bloedon's Civil War military service record is also included.
